New Things New Challenges
Last month, the elder board voted and we officially moved our planting area a short distance north to Helotes. This decision came after much prayer, discussion, and examination of our efforts and the area. Helotes is a thriving area with both old and new developments, a rich history, and a supportive local government. I continue to work to engage the community, spending time in local businesses, meeting with residents for coffee, and more.
One recent connection was Rick. He's the owner of Helotes Crossfit and he has a bible study in his home each week. In addition to this, both he and his oldest son work for San Antonio Fire, with Rick as a paramedic and his son a new recruit fireman. Rick is a solid believer working to share Christ with others in his work and daily life.
Men and women like Rick are the heart of the church and the kind of launch team we are working to build. Believers who are eager to serve their community, who share Christ, and who love well. There is a lot to be said for the hard work they do every day.
As we engage Helotes, our key challenges remain similar to before, people and funding. The effort of planting a church is high, but it is one that can quickly be shared as God brings those He has called together for His work. This is a big prayer of mine, that I would have "God-meetings", meeting individuals that God is calling to be part of The Hub and sharing the vision with them. It is in these meetings that we find and build the launch team, and with these individuals that we will share Him with our community.
In May, we launch an abortion recovery bible study. This is a discreet group that is meant to help those who have had an abortion feel God's grace and experience restoration or hear the Gospel for the first time. This is a group that remains anonymous but can have a major impact on the community. If you know someone in San Antonio or Helotes that needs this, please have them email Laura at singleton.laura@yahoo.com or contact me at paul@thehubchurch.org.
We ask for your prayers, for Helotes, for God-meetings, and for funding to grow. According to His will we continue to seek His direction and reach the community with His gospel.
